Ochem and Physics :'(
Classes this quarter were rough, but I got through them. Every assignment and test were learning experiences, and though I wish I did better, I'm proud of how much I did learn and my persistence through emotional and mental challenges.

RCSA President
Though I originally joined the organization as the Director of Recognition and Partnerships, I took on the role of RCSA President knowing it would be a good growth opportunity. I was definitely challenged! I learned a lot of administrative skills, marketing and engagement, as well as thoroughly practiced leadership and accountability. There were definitely hard times, but my team was great, and the General Council was always fun to be around. After my time in the org., I'm absolutely a stronger leader, a stronger communicator, and stronger community advocate and organizer.

CLUE and IC
Shout out to CLUE and the IC for helping me get through Physics and Ochem. I definitely needed the extra help working through problems and visited tutoring a few nights a week.

Barney
RIP :'( - Good lesson on impulsive desicion making. Fun having you while it lasted!

Anth 215-Intro to Medical Anthropology and Global Health |4.0|

RCSA-Winter
This was a particularly challenging quarter for us. We unfortunately lost 3 Executive Board members within a few weeks of each other, putting a large burden on the remaining team.
However, we still accomplished a lot. This was a great quarter for our committees and council bonding. We elected the 2022-23 President and selected an incoming board. We wrapped up the Budget Advisory Committee and went to the Board of Regents for approval. We were also interviewed for a Daily article which is pretty cool :)

Applications
Winter always seems to be the quarter of applications. I applied to several pre-med internships in the Seattle area, the Public Health major, as well as to a few part-time positions. Letters of Rec, Resumes, Cover Letters, and Essays took up a lot of time beyond RCSA and academics. Applications always feel like they're endless, but one day I'll be where I want to be with great, formative experiences under my wing.

Biology
Finished the UW Biology series! Though it was difficult, it was also really fun and interesting. Plants are a lot cooler than I thought and I have new appreciation for the work that my lungs and capillaries do. Now I just need to recall it all for the MCAT.

Acceptances
I was very happy to be admitted in the UW School of Public Health's Public Health-Global Health major. And I was also elated to hear about my acceptance to Seattle Children's Research Institutes Summer Scholar Program with Dr. Faisal's diabetes team. Another successful application cycle! Let's keep it going :)

Covid Testing
Covid testing for the cruise lines was a new kind of clinical experience after working as a CNA. Most of my job included swabbing patients and returning results. It was a great per diem job, but I think I definitely want to have more interaction with patients and greater variety of tasks throughout the day in my career.

Choir
My neighbor got me into Choir this quarter and it was a lot of fun. It's a gospel choir, which isn't my belief, but I really enjoy the music along with our instructor. I plan to stick around in choir for a while, while I'm working toward my 20 credits of A&H for Sociology.
Summer 2022

Clinical Research Internship
The SCRI research internship was AMAZING! I had a great team with two recent UW graduates and a practicing Endocrinologist/Endocrinologist/Principal Investigator. I got a great opportunity to peak into current research projects and talk to clinical and research professionals. I learned a lot about Type 1 Diabetes and current management trends/issues. Now, I do have a better understanding of how the research process works and what roles there are to play. I think research is something I definitely want to incorporate into my career, and I'm interested to find out what particular areas intersect best with my medical specialty of choice.

Free Time & Fun
Despite a full-time internship, I had a lot more free time over the summer than during the school year. It was an adjustment at first, because I have a bad habit of dropping hobbies when I get busy. But I found some fun in biking around to parks, getting and making good food, watching Full Metal Alchemist, and playing my now favorite game Stardew Valley.

Food Pantry Recipes and UW Farm
I couldn't go into the food pantry synchronously due to my internship, so I started creating recipe posts for the food pantry's Instagram. I also got the chance to go out to the UW Farm on the weekends and worked a lot with tomatoes.
